## How the Google Index Checker Works
This tool audits your page for all the signals that determine Google indexing:
1. **HTTP status check**, verifies the page returns a 200 OK status and detects redirects (301/302) that affect which URL gets indexed.
2. **Noindex detection**, checks the meta robots tag and X-Robots-Tag HTTP header for noindex directives that prevent indexing.
3. **Canonical analysis**, verifies the canonical URL matches the current page. A mismatch means Google will index the canonical version instead.
4. **Robots.txt check**, verifies that Googlebot is not blocked from crawling the page path in robots.txt.

What does the Google index checker inspect?
It fetches the submitted URL and checks its initial status or redirect, fetched HTML, robots meta directives, X-Robots-Tag header, canonical URL, robots.txt rules, and available Internet Archive dates. These are indexability signals, not data from Google's index.
Does an Indexable result mean the page is indexed by Google?
No. It means the scan did not find one of the technical blockers it tests. Use Google Search Console URL Inspection to confirm Google's current indexing state, selected canonical, crawl result, and any indexing reason specific to that URL.
How should I interpret a redirect or canonical mismatch?
A redirect means the requested URL sends visitors and crawlers elsewhere. A canonical mismatch means the fetched page identifies a different URL as preferred after normalizing protocol, www, and a trailing slash. Verify that the reported destination is intentional before changing it.
How complete is the robots.txt check?
It is a quick check of simple path-prefix Disallow rules found for Googlebot or User-agent: \*. It does not fully model every robots.txt grouping, wildcard, Allow, precedence, or crawler-specific edge case, so validate complex files with Google Search Console or a dedicated robots tester.
Can the checker see directives added by JavaScript?
It analyzes the HTTP response and fetched HTML without rendering the page in a browser. A robots meta tag or canonical created only after client-side JavaScript runs may not appear in this result, while Google may process the rendered page differently.
What do the Wayback Machine dates mean?
They show archive records returned by the Internet Archive for the submitted URL. A listed snapshot is historical evidence that the archive captured a version, not proof of Google indexing. No result can simply mean the archive has no accessible capture for that URL.
What should I fix when the tool finds a blocker?
Confirm the page should be searchable, then correct the specific source: remove an unintended noindex directive, repair the response status or redirect, update an incorrect canonical, or revise a blocking robots.txt rule. Recheck the live URL and then request validation in Search Console.
What data is sent during an indexability check?
The public URL is sent to Web Aloha's tool endpoint. The endpoint fetches the page and robots.txt and queries Internet Archive services for that URL. Do not submit private or tokenized URLs that should not be requested by those services.
