# WordPress to Astro Migration Results: Client Sites Measured

Author: [Lucky Oleg](https://webaloha.co/authors/lucky-oleg/) | Published Oct 20, 2026

**Five WordPress sites we moved to Astro in 2026 all kept their domains and the URLs that brought visitors. Two of them have before and after lab tests, and both got much faster. Three grew strongly in Google search on the same dates year on year, while one got faster and saw no rise in clicks.** Each site that grew also added pages, languages or continuing content and SEO work in the same period, so we show each project with its own dates, test conditions and the other work done alongside it.

We wrote this because most published migration results are a single before and after screenshot. The figures below are Google Search Console data for each client’s property and the lab reports we saved at launch. Search Console windows were checked on 20 and 21 October 2026, use final data and have every day returned in both years.

If you are still weighing up the platforms, start with [WordPress vs Astro for business](https://webaloha.co/wordpress-vs-astro-for-business/). If you are already planning the move, the [migration scope, cost and checklist guide](https://webaloha.co/wordpress-to-astro-migration-scope-cost-checklist/) covers what to count and how to prove nothing broke.

## The Five Migrations at a Glance

| Site | Business | Astro launch | What moved | Redirect rules in the live config, 20 Oct 2026 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Gridinta](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/gridinta/) | Industrial services, English and Lithuanian | Announced 7 August 2026 | 39 pages and 41 posts inventoried on 4 August 2026 | 30 path redirects, plus redirects for 80 old WordPress ID links, 164 attachment pages and 699 media files |
| [Wellington House Repiling](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/wellington-house-repiling/) | Foundation repair, New Zealand | April 2026 | Every original page and three blog posts | 42 |
| [Miško klinika](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/misko-klinika/) | Dental clinic, Lithuania | 7 May 2026; English edition 1 June, Samogitian 5 June | Every page with search traffic kept its address | 56 |
| [Wat Pa Tam Wua](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/wat-pa-tam-wua/) | Meditation monastery, Thailand, four languages | Early April 2026 | The four-language site and its articles | 16 |
| [Spetsnaz Security](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/spetsnaz-security/) | Security company, London | Summer 2026; tested on 18 August 2026 | All 18 existing pages kept their addresses | 20 path and 8 query redirects, plus 198 old upload and 49 attachment links |

Redirect counts come from each site’s live Vercel configuration and migration records. A larger number does not mean a riskier move: most of Gridinta’s and Spetsnaz Security’s rules send old WordPress image and attachment links to their new files, so old bookmarks and image search results still work.

## Lab Speed: Before and After

Lab tests load one page under fixed conditions. They are repeatable, which makes them good for comparing two versions of the same page, but they are not what real visitors experienced.

| Site and page | Tool and conditions | Before (WordPress) | After (Astro) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Gridinta homepage | GTmetrix, London, Chrome 142, Lighthouse 12.6.1; 4 and 7 August 2026 | LCP 2.4 s, Performance 74% | LCP 477 ms, Performance 100% |
| Gridinta homepage | WebPageTest, iPhone 15 profile, Chrome 148, 5G, Amsterdam; 5 August 2026 | Time to first byte 2.024 s, 53 requests | Time to first byte 0.237 s, 18 requests |
| Gridinta homepage | PageSpeed Insights mobile, Moto G Power on Slow 4G, Lighthouse 13.4.1; 5 and 7 August 2026 | Performance 89, Speed Index 3.4 s | Performance 91, Speed Index 0.9 s |
| Wellington House Repiling homepage | PageSpeed Insights mobile; capture dates are not shown on the saved reports | Performance 78, LCP 4.4 s, TBT 120 ms | Performance 98, LCP 1.8 s, TBT 0 ms |

Two of the five have after-launch tests only. Miško klinika’s homepage scored 97 for mobile Performance on PageSpeed Insights on 14 September 2026 and 100 on desktop on 28 September 2026, and Chrome’s real-user data for the site passes the Core Web Vitals assessment on phones. Spetsnaz Security’s homepage recorded GTmetrix Grade A with a 511 ms LCP from London, and 100 for desktop Performance in PageSpeed Insights, both on 18 August 2026. Wat Pa Tam Wua has no saved before and after tests.

All of these are lab results for specific pages on specific dates. Your own result depends on your theme, plugins, images, scripts and hosting, which is why every migration we run starts with its own baseline. Full screenshots and test settings are on the [Gridinta case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/gridinta/) and the [Wellington House Repiling case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/wellington-house-repiling/).

## Google Search: Same Dates, Year on Year

Search results are a different question from speed. Clicks depend on demand, competition, content and links as much as on the platform, so we compare the same calendar dates in 2025 and 2026 and say what else changed.

| Site | Search Console window (both years) | Clicks 2025 | Clicks 2026 | Change | Other work in the same period |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Gridinta | 8 August to 17 October, 71 days | 565 | 1,787 | 3.2 times | Content, SEO and GEO work continued throughout |
| Miško klinika | 1 July to 17 October, 109 days | 461 | 1,695 | 3.7 times | English and Samogitian editions, a page for every dentist, six new treatment pages, new articles |
| Wat Pa Tam Wua | 1 July to 17 October, 109 days | 11,254 | 19,444 | +73% | Russian edition launched in early 2026, new articles, GEO work, ongoing pro bono care |
| Wellington House Repiling | 1 July to 17 October, 109 days | 297 | 270 | 9% fewer | Five new service pages and a services overview, a rebuilt gallery |
| Spetsnaz Security | 1 July to 17 October, 109 days | 58 | 40 | Too small to read | A services hub, eight new guides and FAQs on every service page |

Source: Google Search Console, web search, final data, one property per site, checked on 20 October 2026. Because Search Console keeps about 16 months of data, these windows start in July: the June 2025 days used in some of our case studies are no longer available to re-check.

### Gridinta: more clicks after the move than before it

Gridinta’s August 2026 move to Astro came after a website, content, SEO and GEO programme that was already growing its search traffic. On the same 71 days in each year, clicks rose from 565 to 1,787 and impressions from 77,358 to 209,577. Against the 71 days just before the move (29 May to 7 August 2026, 1,292 clicks), the period after it was 38% higher. The site appeared for 4,262 different searches in the 2026 window, up from 1,473.

Around the launch itself, the site had 611 clicks in the 28 days from 8 August to 4 September 2026, against 554 in the 28 days from 10 July to 6 August 2026. On the same dates in 2025, clicks also rose, from 134 to 193. Content, SEO and GEO work continued throughout, so these figures cannot separate the platform’s effect from that work. [Read the Gridinta case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/gridinta/).

### Wellington House Repiling: much faster, clicks did not rise

Wellington House Repiling is a foundation repair company in Upper Hutt. The rebuild took mobile PageSpeed from 78 to 98 and LCP from 4.4 s to 1.8 s. Clicks on 1 July to 17 October were 297 in 2025 and 270 in 2026, and impressions fell from 17,239 to 11,860.

Some signals improved. The homepage’s average position rose from 30.6 to 15.7, and the article on spotting foundation problems moved from an average position of 28.7 to 7.1, with clicks up from 11 to 33. But the five new service pages recorded 99 impressions and one click between them in the 2026 window, and the gallery page, which earned 8 clicks in 2025, recorded no impressions at all. Both versions are our work: we built the original WordPress site about seven years earlier, so this is not a comparison against someone else’s build. [Read the Wellington House Repiling case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/wellington-house-repiling/).

### Miško klinika: a rebuild that added what patients search for

We worked with Miško klinika on WordPress for about seven years before rebuilding the site in Astro in May 2026. In 1 July to 17 October, clicks rose from 461 to 1,695 and impressions from 14,865 to 82,948. The site appeared for 3,288 different searches, up from 290, and 141 of its pages appeared in search results, up from 18.

URLs with no search impressions in the 2025 window earned 735 of the 1,716 page-level clicks in 2026. Among them, the dentist pages earned 283 and the English edition 138; the case study documents both as added in the rebuild. No page that earned three or more clicks in the 2025 window dropped out of search. [Read the Miško klinika case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/misko-klinika/).

### Wat Pa Tam Wua: a four-language site, measured around the move

Wat Pa Tam Wua’s site, which we have supported pro bono for eight years, moved to Astro in early April 2026. Clicks on 1 July to 17 October rose from 11,254 to 19,444, impressions from 249,434 to 960,025, and the number of different searches it appeared for from 3,064 to 11,505. A Russian edition and new articles were added in the same year, and we ran a GEO project on the site. Around the launch, the site had 3,843 clicks in the 28 days from 7 April to 4 May 2026, against 3,791 in the 28 days from 10 March to 6 April 2026. Search Console no longer holds spring 2025, so there is no year-earlier comparison for those weeks.

Not every page gained. The Thai timetable page fell from 1,075 clicks to 287 in the same windows, while a Thai article on monks’ meal times, with no impressions in the 2025 window, earned 768. [Read the Wat Pa Tam Wua case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/wat-pa-tam-wua/).

### Spetsnaz Security: a UK example without search numbers to read

Spetsnaz Security, a London security company, moved in summer 2026. All 18 existing pages kept their addresses, and hundreds of old WordPress image links redirect to their new versions. Its search traffic is too small to read a trend: 40 clicks on 1 July to 17 October 2026 against 58 on the same dates in 2025, and the window includes weeks before the launch. We publish it for the migration method, not for search growth. [Read the Spetsnaz Security case study](https://webaloha.co/case-studies/spetsnaz-security/).

## What Did Not Change

- **Every site that grew also changed more than its platform.** Each added pages, languages or continuing content work in the same period. Wellington House Repiling, where the main change was speed, got faster without more clicks.
- **Wellington’s new service pages have not ranked yet.** The five service pages are well built and fast, and in the 2026 window they recorded 99 impressions between them. Local service searches also depend on reviews, links and the business profile.
- **A good lab score did not always move.** Gridinta’s mobile PageSpeed Performance score went from 89 to 91, even though Speed Index fell from 3.4 s to 0.9 s and time to first byte from 2.024 s to 0.237 s.
- **Some individual pages still lost visits.** Wat Pa Tam Wua’s Thai timetable page and Wellington’s gallery are the examples above.

## What We Would Do Differently

- **Save full, dated before reports.** Wellington’s before and after PageSpeed screenshots are cropped and do not show the test date. Since then we save complete reports with the tool version, location and date, as we did for Gridinta.
- **Export Search Console history before the move.** Search Console keeps about 16 months. Gridinta’s earlier history was already incomplete when we measured it, so we now archive daily data before a move.
- **Check every language’s top pages before and after cutover.** On a multilingual site, list the top pages per language and watch each one for the first weeks, not only the site total.
- **Plan local search work alongside a service-site rebuild.** For a local trade business, new service pages need reviews, citations and links pointing at them to earn rankings.

## How We Measured

- **Search:** Google Search Console, web search type, final data, one property per site. Each comparison uses the same calendar dates in both years, and every day in both windows is returned. Query and page counts exclude searches that Google anonymises.
- **Lab speed:** the tools, locations, device profiles and dates are listed in the lab table. Before and after tests use the same public page and tool.
- **Redirects:** counted from each site’s live Vercel configuration and migration records on 20 October 2026.
- **What we did not measure here:** enquiries, bookings and revenue. Search clicks are visits from Google, not customers.

## Frequently asked questions

Does migrating from WordPress to Astro increase Google traffic?

Our figures cannot show that. In our five 2026 migrations, Search Console clicks on the same dates year on year rose 3.2 times for Gridinta, 3.7 times for Miško klinika and 73% for Wat Pa Tam Wua. Each of those sites also added pages, languages or continuing content and SEO work in the same period, so the figures cannot separate the platform's effect from that work. Wellington House Repiling got much faster in lab tests and its clicks did not rise: 297 from 1 July to 17 October 2025 and 270 on the same dates in 2026.

How much faster is Astro than WordPress in real migrations?

On the two sites we tested before and after, the gains were large in lab tests. Gridinta's homepage Largest Contentful Paint fell from 2.4 s to 477 ms in GTmetrix (London, 4 and 7 August 2026), and Wellington House Repiling's mobile PageSpeed Insights score rose from 78 to 98 with LCP falling from 4.4 s to 1.8 s. Gridinta's mobile PageSpeed Performance score only moved from 89 to 91, so a single score rarely tells the whole story.

Did the migrations lose any rankings or pages?

No page that earned three or more clicks in the 2025 comparison window was lost on Miško klinika. Every site kept its domain and the URLs that brought visitors, and changed URLs were redirected. Some pages still lost visits: Wat Pa Tam Wua's Thai timetable page fell from 1,075 to 287 clicks in the same windows, and Wellington House Repiling's gallery page recorded no Search Console impressions in the 2026 window.

How do you measure a WordPress to Astro migration fairly?

Keep lab speed and search results apart. Test the same public page before and after with the same tool, location, device profile and dates written down. For search, compare the same calendar dates year on year in Google Search Console, check that every day in both windows is returned, and list the other work done in the same period, because content, links and demand change too.
