What Font Does Spotify Use? Spotify Mix, UI and Logo

Author: Lucky Oleg | Published

Spotify’s bespoke typeface is Spotify Mix. Spotify announced it on 22 May 2024, naming Dinamo as its design partner. In our public website check on 28 October 2026, Chromium returned the more specific names Spotify Mix UI and Spotify Mix UI Title for the text it rendered.

That finding belongs to a particular surface: visiting spotify.com redirected our browser to the signed-out Spotify web player. We did not inspect the installed desktop or mobile apps, and a text-font check does not identify the logo’s lettering.

What the browser rendered on 28 October 2026

The check began at 15:03 UTC, in a fresh headless Chromium context at 1366 × 900 pixels, with an en-US locale. We read the computed CSS stacks, then used Chrome DevTools Protocol’s CSS.getPlatformFontsForNode to ask which font drew the sampled glyphs.

The first h1 is an instructive exception: a heading tag does not automatically mean a different family. Our probe found a separate title stack on other headings, which together carried more heading text. We therefore report the individual sample as well as the main heading family.

DevTools returned font information for all 18 sampled elements. Both named web faces were loaded. These rendered families also appeared in our separate September 2026 website font study.

The public evidence JSON includes the complete stacks, raw rendered-family names, sample counts and capture settings. It contains no Spotify font files.

Why a CSS stack can still mention Circular

The measured body stack began with SpotifyMixUI, followed by names including CircularSp-Arab, CircularSp-Hebr, CircularSp-Cyrl, CircularSp-Grek and CircularSp-Deva. It later listed Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, Japanese families and emoji families.

That is evidence of what the page requested as alternatives, not proof that every listed family appeared on screen. Our sampled Latin-script text rendered in the Mix families. We did not test Arabic, Hebrew, Cyrillic, Greek or Devanagari text, so this check cannot establish what Spotify renders for those scripts.

Spotify’s original Mix announcement also described an initial rollout for Latin-based scripts and Vietnamese. Its date and scope matter: neither that announcement nor one English-language visit establishes the typography of every current client and locale.

This is the same reason the presence of Arial in a stylesheet is a weak answer to “what font does this site use?” A family may be a fallback, an unused rule or a face for text that was not present in the test.

Spotify Mix, the logo and reuse rights

Dinamo describes Spotify Mix as a custom variable family with a range of widths and weights. That flexibility helps explain why a brand system can contain quieter interface text and more expressive campaign typography under one family name.

Spotify describes Mix as bespoke and exclusive. The official sources reviewed here do not provide a public licence to reuse it. A font request that your browser can download is not a reuse licence, so copying a file from Spotify’s CDN is not a font-selection workflow.

The logo is a separate asset. Spotify’s developer guidelines describe its full logo as the icon plus wordmark and specify how it may be displayed. Our browser text measurements do not establish a wordmark font, and typing the name in Spotify Mix should not be presented as the official logo.

If you are building an integration, Spotify’s font guidance recommends the default sans-serif for the platform, followed by Helvetica Neue, Helvetica and Arial. That guidance gives you a practical starting point without copying Spotify’s custom typeface.

Fonts to test for your own music or media website

For an independent project, start with the work the text needs to do. These are our design suggestions, not exact replacements for Spotify Mix.

Your design briefA starting pointTest it with
Dense playlists, navigation and account formsInterLong track titles, artist names, timestamps and keyboard focus states
A more characterful music publication or event pageManropeShort bold headlines, ticket details and long article paragraphs
A lightweight utility or platform-native integrationsystem-ui, sans-serifThe same layout on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS

The Google Fonts repository provides SIL Open Font License 1.1 files for Inter and Manrope, checked on 28 October 2026. Read the licence shipped with your chosen files and preserve its notices when redistributing them. A system UI stack uses the visitor’s platform font, so its appearance varies by device.

Before committing, compare a long artist name, a two-line album title, Il1 O0, accented characters, prices and a narrow phone layout. Use weight and spacing to establish hierarchy before adding another family.

Our website font selection guide covers that decision in more detail. For a reference website, begin with the free Website Font Checker, which inspects public HTML and CSS. Then confirm important findings in the browser’s Computed → Rendered Fonts panel. A source-code result alone cannot prove the face that drew the text.

Check conditions and limits

We used the existing probe from our top 1,000 website font study on one Mac and one connection. A separate Cloudflare trace check from the same machine reported network country GB. The runtime was macOS 27, Playwright 1.64.1 and Chromium 156.0.8078.4; the unchanged study user agent advertised Chrome 153 with the identifying WebAlohaFontStudy/1.0 token.

Robots.txt allowed the requested homepage and its redirect target. There were no logins, playback actions, clicks, consent choices or scrolling. “Visible” samples had a visible layout box in the loaded document and could include text below the fold. Fonts that depend on scrolling, a different locale or later interaction are outside this check.

Spotify did not finish its load event within the 15-second wait, but document.fonts.ready resolved before measurement and all sampled font queries returned. Treat this as evidence of the text present at that point, rather than a complete inventory of every resource or Spotify surface. Mobile layouts, signed-in recommendations, iframe text and closed shadow roots were not tested.

Our Discord font check provides another example: its documented app font and its marketing homepage’s rendered fonts answer different questions.
