WordPress Hub: FAQ
What is the WordPress Hub?
It is Web Aloha's central resource for running WordPress well. It brings together free WordPress and PHP tools, compatibility guides we keep updated with every PHP release, and done-for-you care plans, so you can check, learn, and fix in one place.
Which PHP version should my WordPress site run?
For most sites in 2026, PHP 8.3 is the minimum we recommend and newer stable versions are preferred once your theme and plugins support them. Our recommended PHP version guide is updated with every release, and the free PHP Version Checker tells you in seconds what any site currently runs.
How do I update PHP without breaking my site?
Back up first, check theme and plugin compatibility, update in a staging environment if you have one, and roll back if anything misbehaves. If you would rather not think about any of that, our WordPress care plans handle PHP upgrades, plugin updates, backups, and security monitoring from $49/month.
Is WordPress still a good choice in 2026?
Yes. WordPress powers about 40% of the web, and for content-heavy sites with frequent edits it remains a solid choice when kept fast and updated. For some businesses, especially those with mostly static content, migrating to a static stack like Astro brings big speed and security wins. We build and maintain both, so our advice is based on the project, not on what we happen to sell.
When does migrating from WordPress to Astro make sense?
When your content changes occasionally rather than daily, when speed and security matter to your business, or when plugin maintenance eats your time. Astro sites are typically 3 to 10 times faster, have almost no attack surface, and cost nearly nothing to host. Our migration service moves WordPress sites over without losing rankings.
