About Wellington House Repiling
Wellington House Repiling Ltd is a specialist foundation services company based in Upper Hutt, serving the greater Wellington region. Founded and led by Stephen Pihama, a Licensed Building Practitioner, the company provides house repiling, house leveling, foundation repair, earthquake foundation strengthening, and concrete and timber pile replacement.
With a 5.0-star rating across 12 Google reviews and completed projects across Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, and the Kapiti Coast, Wellington House Repiling is a trusted name in residential foundation work in New Zealand.
The Problem
The existing WordPress/Elementor site was slow and underpowered for the business it represented. Mobile PageSpeed sat at 78, with an LCP of 4.4 seconds. That is a significant load time for a trade site where most visitors arrive from a mobile search like "house leveling Wellington" or "foundation repair Upper Hutt."
More critically, there were no dedicated service pages. House leveling, foundation repair, earthquake strengthening, concrete pile replacement: all key revenue services had no standalone pages. That meant no keyword targeting, no structured content for search engines, and no clear entry points for potential clients searching for those specific services.
The gallery was functional but unorganized, the schema markup was minimal, and the contact form relied on a third-party WordPress plugin. There was also no structured data to help AI tools and search engines understand who the business is, what it does, and where it operates.
Web Aloha Approach
WordPress to Astro Migration
We migrated the entire site from WordPress to Astro, rebuilt from the ground up using the Astro framework and Tailwind, deployed on Vercel. Every original page was migrated and improved: homepage, about, services, gallery, blog index, contact, and three blog posts.
All fonts were self-hosted to eliminate external render-blocking dependencies. Zero third-party font CDN calls.
The contact form was rebuilt as a serverless function, routing directly through a transactional email API for reliable delivery. No plugins, no WordPress dependencies.
6 New Dedicated Service Pages
The original site had no standalone service pages. We built six, each targeting a high-intent search query in the Wellington market:
- House Leveling Wellington: warning signs, process, gallery, 10-question FAQ
- Foundation Repair Wellington: problem types, repair process, gallery, FAQ
- Concrete & Tōtara Pile Replacement Wellington: replacing end-of-life original Tōtara piles and cracked concrete piles with modern mechanical connections
- Timber Pile Replacement Wellington: full vs partial replacement, pile type options
- Earthquake Foundation Strengthening Wellington: anchor piles, mechanical connections, Wellington seismic context
- Services hub page: overview linking to all services
Each service page includes a structured FAQ section (8 to 10 questions), a gallery, a process walkthrough, client reviews, related services, and area served coverage for Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua, and Kapiti Coast.
Gallery: 67 Images, 6 Categories
The gallery was rebuilt from scratch: 67 images organized into six categories (Access, Confined Spaces, Leveling, Jack & Pack, Mechanical Connections, and Piles). Category filtering and a lightbox were built with vanilla JavaScript, no third-party libraries.
This gives potential clients a visual walk-through of real past work before they ever pick up the phone. For a service business where trust is everything, project photos are a conversion tool.
Schema Markup & GEO Optimization
We implemented advanced schema markup across all 14 pages. The LocalBusiness type was upgraded to include HomeAndConstructionBusiness, enriched with full address, GPS coordinates, founder identity, aggregateRating (5.0 from 12 reviews), opening hours, and payment methods.
A separate Organization entity was added with social profile links, founding date, and a knowsAbout array covering all service specialties. This gives AI tools and search engines the structured signals they need to understand the business as a clear entity.
Every service page carries FAQPage schema, Service schema with areaServed, and BreadcrumbList. Blog posts include Article schema with proper author and publisher references. The site is structured to be easily parsed and cited by AI search engines from day one.
